Obituary of George C. Surosky

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George Conrad Surosky, 83, of Spring House, Pennsylvania and longtime resident of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026. Born on May 21, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, George lived a life defined by devotion to his faith, family, and career.

A dedicated professional, George served as an auditor for the U.S. General Accounting Office for an impressive 40 years. His meticulous work ethic and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his career. Beyond his professional accomplishments, George’s deep faith was a guiding force in his life. As a devout Catholic and active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish, he found purpose in serving as a lector, sharing his voice and devotion with his church community.

George’s life revolved around his family. He was a loving husband to Joan for 61 years. He was a devoted father to his son George Jr. and daughters Susan (married to Charles) and Joan Marie (married to Kyle). He cherished his role as a grandfather to Deven, Aidan, Linden, and Alexander and was overjoyed to be a great-grandfather to Silas. Though predeceased by his son Georgie, George’s enduring love for all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild was evident in every aspect of his life and a constant source of strength for them.

Known for his quiet strength and unwavering kindness, George was the cornerstone of his family. He approached life with humility and grace, always putting the needs of others before his own. Whether through small acts of service or steadfast support during challenging times, he exemplified what it meant to be a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his family and faith, George found solace in reading and music—simple pleasures that reflected the thoughtful and introspective nature that those who knew him came to admire. He played the french horn, trumpet, and accordion, passing this musical talent on to his children and grandchildren.

George’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and faithfulness. His memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. May the example he set continue to inspire all who carry forward the values he held dear.

May George Conrad Surosky rest in eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon him.  His legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
