Obituary of Katherine C. Krause
Katherine Robinson Corson Krause, M.D., passed away peacefully in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania on April 22, 2026. For the last seventeen years, she was a resident at The Hill at Whitemarsh.
"Tina" as she was known, was educated at Plymouth Meeting Friends School, Germantown Friends School (GFS) and graduated from Wellesley College, class of 1957.
She then taught high school biology at GFS and became a performer and choreographer in the art of Modern Dance.
She earned a Masters Degree in Embryology from Bryn Mawr College in 1973 and a Doctor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1978. She completed a residency and fellowship in Family Medicine at Duke University.
A lifelong learner and teacher, Tina helped develop Family Medicine Residency Programs, first at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, then the University of Connecticut in Hartford and finally, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia before her retirement.
Dr. Krause served as President of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (1995-1996). After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, landscape design and received her Pennsylvania Horticulturalist certification from Temple University.
One of her greatest enjoyments was spending time at her summer cottage, Spindrift, on MacMahan Island, Maine, with her family and friends for nearly sixty years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Krause, Jr., her sister Carol Corson. Dr. Krause is survived by her sister Linda Corson, her brother John E. F. Corson, sons Peter Krause (Lynne Alexander) and Michael Krause, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize and thank all of her caregivers at The Hill at Whitemarsh.
Plans for a private memorial service on MacMahan Island will be finalized in the future.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Plymouth Meeting Friends School, Germantown Friends School and the American Friends Service Committee.
