Deepest sympathies to all of Joe's family members. He and I were classmates at LaSalle. Many words describe him, but "competitor" is the one I think fits him best.

Helen, Stephen and I are in Florida and will not be attending the service for Joe. He was loved and we will
remember and pray for him on Thanksgiving Day.
On Thanksgiving Day 1990, Joe McNichol threw a touchdown to Steve Strohecker on the opening play of the game
against St Joes. Stephen thinks the play was 121 waggle 4 or 5 which was a play designed as a pass to Keith Tornetta.
At the LaSalle auction that year, Keith's father won the right to call the opening play of the game against St. Joe's. Unfortunately, Keith was covered and the long pass from Joe's son went to Stephen. It was a proud moment for me and I'm sure it was for Joe also. It was a fun yr having my son on the team with Joe as his coach.
It was another November day in 1963, when JFK was shot and Cardinal Dougherty classes were cut short. We were
sent home early. Joe took us home in the Pontiac Chieftain. I can remember listening to the news on the way home. Everyone remembers where they were that day. We were in the Chieftain.
Joe was my business teacher at CD. I was not Joe's best student, and I still have the lumps to show for it.
Growing up in the McNichol household, I can still remember Joe listening to Bubby Holly and the Kingston Trio...characters I knew nothing about at the time.
My condolences to the family. We'll miss him.

I coached soccer at Carroll When Joe was AD and football coach. He always had the respect of his fellow coaches and players. His players grew to men under him and contributed greatly to their community. Joe was a great coach and mentor and left a great legacy.

Joseph’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Reds was always a very positive presence in the LaSalle High football reality that saw the participation of "Brothers' Boys" who have maintained their commitment to honest gentlemanly conduct throughout their lives, as well as their happy memories of shared and hard-won success in a sports era that is still remembered with fondness. Add to that the Brothers' tradition of the Rosary, "The Holy Presence of God" and "Live Jesus in our Hearts forever" (which Ray Weinmann said was "Little Jesus...), and Reds, like us all, had what was needed for a life well lived.

I have very fond, if distant, memories of "Reds" McNichol Jr. We were the last La Salle High graduating class from 20th and Olney and thanks to Scotty, Maxwell and Hughie Broley (sp?) and Reds we were an amazing class of athletes as well as scholars. Drama and band were my things but Reds loved, as we all did, being "Brother's Boys". I am sorry for your loss and I wish I were closer to you all as I'd love to be at the Mass.
All best wishes
