Obituary of Matthew S. Commeger
Matthew Shawn Commeger was born May 30,1988 to Karen Porter and Kenneth Commeger at Pennsylvania Hospital. Matthew attended the Philadelphia Public School System and he was transferred to Glenn Mills School for Boys where he graduated in 2007. After graduating high school Matthew (affectionately called ‘Big’), began his journey into adulthood where he continued striving to become the man he was determined to be. On July 18, 2014, Matthew welcomed his first born son, Matthew (Matt Matt) Shawn Commeger, Jr. he was elated to be a father. Matthew loved being with his son creating fond and loving memories with him. On October 5, 2017, Matthew welcomed his baby girl, Zuri Michelle Commeger into this world. Matthew was an amazing father who enjoyed spending countless days with his children ensuring that he was a present father in their lives. Matthew enjoyed playing with his children which included shooting hoops with his son or watching him play football, and playing with his daughter Zuri, who was his princess.
Matthew’s loyalty to friends and family immeasurable. He always placed others before himself. His selflessness was unmatched and will forever be remembered.
God gave me 35 years with Matthew and for that I am grateful, while this hurts so much, I have to know that my son is at peace….all he wanted for his family was to be safe happy and have a normal life. Please keep us all in your prayers……Matthew, I love you so much and life will never be the same without you here.
Matthew transitioned from this life on Saturday March 16, 2024. Matthew leaves to mourn, his mother, father his brother Justin, his nephew, Apollo, his loving children, Matthew Jr. and Zuri and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles to cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his older half brother, Kenneth Jr (parents Kenneth Sr and Annette).
My Son in Heaven
They say there is a reason
They say time will heal;
Neither time or reason
Will change the way I feel
Gone are the days, we used to share
But in my heart, you are always there.
The gates of memories, will never close;
I miss you more than
Anybody knows…
Love and miss you every day,
Till we meet again
Always and Forever.
In Loving Memory of My Son
If Roses Grown in Heaven
If roses in Heaven Lord,
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Son’s arms
and tell him they’re from me.
Tell him that I love and miss him
and when he turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon his cheek
and hold him for a while.
Because remembering him is easy,
I do it everyday.
But there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
In lieu of flowers please make any monetary contributions to his children’s account through Venmo @kami4565 Karen Porter.
